Three Words for 2015
I started this practice in 2013 after being introduced to it by Chris Brogan and Anthony Iannarino. The idea is to choose three words that will act as a guide, a mantra, an easy to recall reminder of the high-level objectives for the year. My words for the past few years:
- 2013: Be Bold, Lean In, Mojo (By the way, phrases don’t work as well.)
- 2014: Mindful, Disciplined, Vulnerable
Last year, 2014, was a good year. These words did guide and challenge me to grow throughout the year.
For 2015, my three words are:
- Abundance: I have much to be thankful for and many gifts / talents to offer the world. Yet, to often, find myself operating from a mindset of scarcity. Abundance is a reminder that I have what I need and I have the ability to create so much more, especially, if I give to others.
- Clarity: 1. Be clear about your goals, each and every day. Know precisely what you’re moving towards and how you plan to get there. 2. Speak clearly, leaving little room for misinterpretation. 3. Ask for clarification. Understand everything that is going on in a deal. Deadlines, next steps, responsibilities, end games. etc.
- Chip: Make small progress towards your goals everyday. Use gritty determination to persevere through adversity. Success is a long process; accept it and chip away.
Here’s to making 2015 your best year yet. Let’s get after it.
